In today’s digital age, having a professional and effective website is essential for small businesses. In this workshop, you’ll learn everything you need to know about building a new website or redesigning an existing one. From choosing and registering the right domain name, to building the website itself and making sure it’s secure, you’ll walk away with the knowledge and skills you need to create a website that will help your business succeed online.

You’ll learn:

• What a domain name is and how to register the right one(s) for your business
• How to get an email address that matches your domain name
• How to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) with a fast, accessible, and mobile-friendly website
• What to consider when choosing a website platform such as WordPress, Shopify, Square, or Squarespace
• How to make a website secure and back it up regularly
• What you can do yourself and when to hire a pro

Afterwards, you’ll be able to:

• Register their own domain name(s)
• Select which website platform is best for them, tailoring their choice to business needs and objectives
• Implement best practices for user experience design, including mobile-first thinking and website accessibility
